About this Series

The world today is different for our children. Technology has opened possibilities and opportunities to connect better, learn, and explore the wonders of our world. Teenagers and children spend between 5 to 9 hours a day on the internet, and this has created opportunities for predators with exploitative intentions to engage with them. According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, this new avenue has contributed to a 97.5% increase in online enticement reports since 2019. In-person grooming is also still a concern, as 90% of child sexual abuse is perpetrated by someone the child knows.

Children often don’t have the words to disclose what happened to them. They also remain silent because of the fear they won’t be believed. This series is designed to inform and educate caregivers to safeguard children from online and in-person grooming; help create a safe space to support and validate a child’s disclosure, and be a healing presence for them in the event sexual abuse has occurred.

A Survivor and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging-Centered Approach

Healing is not one-size-fits-all. This is the first-of-its-kind training series that considers intersecting factors like race, culture, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, and gender identity, which leads to a survivor-centered, trauma-informed, culturally competent, and DEIB-centered approach to healing.
